Marappanmoola at Pulpally in Wayanad district, Kerala is the first organic and echo-centric village in India. In 1970s for the culture and processing of the agricultural products was not available to the farmers and it was not practical to approach other states for it. It is then Mr. TomyVadakkumcherry who himself was a farmer from the place started this venture to primarily to help his fellow farmers in the country.
This food-processing center has gained name and fame gradually and it has become famous in the multinational marketing. The Wayanadan farmer’s intimacy and the genuine approach towards agriculture are well appreciated and their products could found its own place in the world market. But unfortunately in late 1990s the price of the agricultural products remarkably went down and consequently of production, faming and processing could not be continued. Many farmerswane on the verge of suicide on account of this tremendous loss and non-availability of funds or their deity of food.
To find out a solution for this critical stage of the farmers Mr. Tomy motivated and organized a group of farmers for organic farming. This helped them to earn something for life and made efforts to find international markets. To begin with this project in 2003, special items of spices were sent for the international marketing. The ‘St. Thomas Industries’ and the ‘New Generation’ brand groups are dedicated to propagate this echo friendly and organic cultivation. It harvested and processed materials, which are totally free from all poisonous. Many consumers not only from within the state and country but also by the international agencies and consumers accept these special Wayanadan products.
It also share its profits with the member farmers and workers who untidily worked for its growth and aching out the products in the products tto the people from various contries of the wold.
